During the discussion on a draft paper on benchmarking within U21 nursing, the complexity of benchmarking within an international context was highlighted, although it was acknowledged that the benchmarking template could be useful for new nursing schools. It is proposed that a working group will refine (for publication) the paper, outlining the U21 nurses' experiences of benchmarking clinical education in an international context.

Virtual Student Exchange
This initiative focuses on 'virtual student exchange' utilizing a web-based system to enable students to network internationally, explore the health care systems of other countries, and debate global health care issues. To date, the project has involved small groups of self-selecting students from the Universities of Queensland and Birmingham. It is proposed to include nursing students from Lund University, the University of Auckland, and the National University of Singapore.

Scholars Programme
To facilitate scholarly activities, research collaboration and networking opportunities across U21 nursing schools, a basic data base of members' research interests and areas of expertise was added to the U21 Health Sciences web site. This data base will continue to be refined and updated.
